Outdoors Club

The purpose of this group is to give Kenyon students the opportunity to experience and learn about the outdoors. We aim at making trips affordable to all students and taking them places (Upstate New York, North Carolina, Kentucky ) that they would not have the chance to experience on their own due to costs or outdoors experience. The club aims to challenge students both physically and emotionally and for this reason we take a longer (1 week long) trip over Spring Break. This experience has always lead to incredible bonding and character building that one doesn't receive from a weekend-long trip in he outdoors. On these trips students learn the basics of camping, setting up tents, cooking in the outdoors, outdoor safety etc. which are all important skills to know that require direct experiences to learn. The club brings Kenyon College students together while giving them the opportunity to experience the natural world, both on campus activities such as BFEC hikes, Kokosing canoe trips etc., and on larger backpacking trips across the United States.

  • The club's two major trips are during October Reading Days and Spring Break

  • Maintaining a social presence on campus

  • Running skills seminars with staff/faculty/students with outdoor skills

  • Running outdoors trips regularly both on and off campus
